Pauch Racing Recap 8/5/17

Mandee Pauch Relations – Aug. 7, 2017 – Billy Pauch Jr. scored himself an impressive third consecutive Dick Tobias Classic victory Sunday evening at Action Track USA in his Heffner Racing Enterprise No.27 SpeedSTR.

Pauch Jr. opened his week Thursday evening at Delmar International in Delmar, Delaware with the No.51 Pizza Pizzazz Modified.

Pauch Jr. started fourth in his heat and ran second, placing him in the redraw for the main event.

Pauch Jr. lined up on the outside of the second row for the main event.

“We ran third and fourth most of the race,” he said. “We were on top of the track. We fell back to a fifth place finish. We ran well though. I’m not a big fan of going backwards but the guys worked hard at it. The team 51 seems to get better wherever we go.”

Pauch Jr. was set to run Big Diamond Speedway Friday night but the races were canceled due to Mother Nature.

Saturday Pauch Jr. made his trip back to his weekly Saturday night track, New Egypt Speedway.

Pauch Jr. started fifth in his heat race and qualified second.

“We were right on the guy for the lead,” added Pauch Jr.

Pauch Jr. lined up on the outside of the seventh row for the 30-lap main event.

“We drove up to ninth in two laps and had a good position until we got stuck in a big pile up,” added Pauch Jr. “We got two flat tires and bent some things. We came in to fix it and drove from dead last to seventh. We salvaged what could have been a terrible night into a good night.”

Billy Pauch Sr. raced Bridgeport Speedway Saturday night in the retro No.15 Big Block Modified.

Pauch Sr. started sixth in his heat race and drove through to qualify second.

Pauch Sr. rolled off on the inside of the fifth row for the main event and crossed the line in 13th.

“We’re really struggling,” added Pauch Sr. “We weren’t good. We’re going to give this car a few more races to see if we can get it to work.”

Sunday saw Pauch Jr. at Action Track USA in Kutztown, P.A. for the Fifth Annual Dick Tobias Classic.

Pauch Jr. started fifth in the SpeedSTR heat.

“Someone spun out and wrecked us,” Pauch Jr. said.

Pauch Jr. went off to win the consi, placing him deep on the outside of the ninth row for the 75-lap main event.

“We slowly made our way to the front,” he said. “We were up to fourth at the halfway break. We made a few changes and took the lead on lap 40. We ran a strong race and did what we had to do to make it work. I’m very proud of our guys to rebound the way we did.”

Pauch Jr.’s win was his third consecutive Dick Tobias Classic victory, earning him an extra $5,000. Pauch Jr. now leads the way with the most SpeedSTR career wins at Action Track USA with a total of 12 victories.

Pauch Jr. made some big moves in his micro sprint heat race by charging through and winning his heat from his eighth-place starting spot.

“We had a really good car early on in the night,” added Pauch Jr.

Pauch Jr. started fifth in the feature and closed out the night with a fourth-place finish.

“We didn’t go backwards,” he said. “I think we made the wrong tire choice, which unfortunately is part of the game. We had a very strong effort from that team.”

Billy Pauch Sr. will be back in action on Saturday at Bridgeport Speedway. Billy Pauch Jr. will be at Big Diamond Speedway on Friday and New Egypt Speedway on Saturday.
